This week's freestyle friday pick is Jay-Z's Grammy Family Freestyle which he recorded exactly 2 years ago at Hot97 on the Funk Flex show. Now I don't really think he really thought of this on the spot but it was still one of the greatest "freestyles" ever. When I first heard this track I played it 10 times straight. There is so much said that you have to pull it up like 3 for 4 times. This freestyle made me take the Gucci bucket off and cover my face several times....lol
This is a great video I just came across about our generation and how we must take our futures into our hands today. We have to realize what we do today will determine what type of future we will have here in America.
Just felt like sharing about the Bradley Effect and how it might affect this election. The Bradley Effect or "Wilder Effect" is named after former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, an African-American who ran for California governor in 1982. Exit polls showed Bradley leading by a wide margin, and the Democrat thought it would be an early election night. But Bradley and the polls were wrong and he lost to white Republican George Deukmejian. The theory was that polling was wrong because many white voters, who did not want to racist appear , said they voted for Bradley even though they did not.
Now I'm not saying this is going to happen November 4, but this scenario has been in my head since he began running against Hilary Clinton. After I saw Barack win the Iowa caucus this feeling started to go away. Now that we are days aways, this fear is definitely on my mind again, with Obama being ahead in most polls by 8 to 9 points. Knowing that more young adults will be voting this election then ever before has calmed down my nerves some what. I look at the fact that we all grew up as a part of this "hip-hop generation" where race played a much smaller role in our lives. Most white kids don't have the same views as their parents and grandparents on race and politics. None of us have first hand stories about segregation or integration and most of us grew up in multiracial communities. Like I said earlier Obama won the Iowa Caucus, and how many black people do you know of that live out there? So white people must be voting for a brother. At the end of the day I have faith in Americans across the country that we will make the right decision and get change in the white house. OBAMA 08.....
And to all those who still hating on Obama here's a little video for you....

The album I have been waiting for since the summer is finally on its way. Common is set to release his next classic entitled "Universal Mind Control". This album was originally scheduled to drop this past summer under the title "Invincible Summer", but never made it's way to the shelves. This is set to be his most up beat album to date as you can tell by his first two singles U.M.C. and Announcement which are both produced by Pharrell. This ten track CD will feature Pharrell, Cee-Lo, and Kanye West. Go out December 9th and support real hip-hop....

Just wanted to show some love to one of our greatest musicians, Nina Simone. She was a pioneer in music with such a innovative style and sound. Simone's voice has also been influential in the world of hip-hop, often being sampled by producers to create a unique sound. She has been called the "High Priestess of Soul" by fans and follow musicians across all genres.
Had to post the video for Hostile Gospel Pt. 1 (Deliver Us) by Talib Kweli aka The BK MC because I love how he went to Africa to shoot this video. We often see artist go to tropical islands, Europe, Asia, and even South America video shoots, but rarely in Africa. Also check out the Trailer for the documentary coming out on Talib.
Some new music from my right-hand man Bishop entitled "Down". This is a great song for a wednesdays aka Hump-Day or any day that you feel you need a extra push to make it through the day. Keep doing your thing brother. The DMV is on it's way
This month's artist for the Unauthorized Biography series is the late great Bob Marley. If you know me, then you already know how I feel about him and his music. Watch and enjoy another great video from SHAUN BOOTHE.
I don't know if I've ever heard a song by Anthony Hamilton that I didn't like. His latest song, "Cool," featuring David Banner, is no different. Mr. Hamilton is one of the most consistent singers out there, so everybody should be checking for his new album, The Point Of It All, when it drops November 18th. Here goes the video for the song "Cool". Enjoy the video and have a great day of family, friends, and football...
I can't lie, I really didn't like Rich Boy when he first came out but after I heard his whole album he gained some points in my book. Looks like another one album artist bites the dust. Here's the video to his best song in my opinion.
